Introducing VIDA Personal Pathways: One platform. Millions of possible MSK pathways

We’re excited to introduce VIDA Personal Pathways: a major evolution of VIDA’s personalised MSK support.

One platform. Millions of possible MSK health pathways.

VIDA is moving towards a more intelligent, clinically-informed programme experience - designed to create more individualised MSK pathways for every employee.

Built on a whole-person approach and inspired by precision health principles, VIDA Personal Pathways uses richer assessment data to shape support around the individual, not the average user. Because MSK health is rarely shaped by one factor alone.

Too often, personalisation still starts and ends with a single signal: where someone feels pain, what condition they select, or what goal they choose. Selecting “back pain” is an important starting point. It helps ensure someone receives relevant support for the area they are experiencing symptoms. But pain location alone is not the full clinical picture, and the next step in personalisation is understanding what may be driving that pain, what else is happening in that person’s life, and what kind of support is most likely to help.

Introducing VIDA Personal Pathways

Pain location alone does not explain what someone needs

Two people may report back pain. But the reasons behind it - and the support most likely to help - can be entirely different.

One might need strength-based support following a period of inactivity. Another might need guidance shaped by menopause, stress, or a long-term condition. Another might be pregnant, returning from injury, or managing pain that is being amplified by anxiety and poor sleep.

A back pain programme may be relevant to all of them. But the emphasis, education and progression they need may be very different. Pain location tells us where support should begin. VIDA Personal Pathways helps determine how that support should be shaped.

VIDA Personal Pathways: assessment data, clinical reasoning and ongoing check-ins

VIDA Personal Pathways connects assessment data, clinical reasoning and ongoing check-ins to create more relevant MSK support for each employee. Inspired by precision health principles and grounded in whole-person MSK care, it moves the question from "Where does it hurt?" to "What is most likely to help this person, right now?"

The experience builds on VIDA's rich library of holistic MSK assessments, including:

  • movement screening
  • current pain status and pain history
  • life stage, including pregnancy and menopause
  • pre-existing conditions
  • age and gender
  • lifestyle, work context and behavioural factors

These data points combine to build a more complete picture of each person's MSK health. And as employees complete more assessments and check-ins, their programme becomes more tailored over time - not a static experience, but one that develops with them.

Same pain area, different pathway

This is where the clinical depth becomes tangible.

Take two employees, both flagging lower back pain. The first is in their mid-thirties, sedentary role, no previous injury, early-stage discomfort. The second is in their early fifties, going through menopause, with a history of disc problems and elevated stress scores. In a traditional symptom-based pathway, both would appropriately begin with lower back pain support. With VIDA Personal Pathways, that support becomes more refined over time, shaped by the fuller picture each assessment provides.

Depending on that broader picture, the right pathway might:

  • focus on building strength and restoring mobility
  • prioritise load management and graduated recovery
  • integrate education around pain science, life-stage changes or condition management

The clinical reasoning adapts to the individual - not the other way around.

Why this matters for employers

For employers, this is not just a better employee experience. It creates a stronger foundation for prevention.

When support feels relevant earlier, employees are more likely to engage before pain escalates - before productivity is affected, and before support becomes more costly or reactive. Relevance drives engagement. And earlier engagement is what shifts MSK from reactive to preventative.

It also matters for inclusion. Women, older employees, menopausal and pregnant employees are frequently under-served when digital health relies on broad symptom categories. A platform that accounts for life stage, age, health history and pre-existing conditions can reach more of the workforce - not just the average employee.

Every workforce is diverse by default. A single organisation may include younger employees with early signs of pain, people returning from injury, employees going through significant life-stage changes, those managing long-term conditions, and people with no current pain but emerging risk. A one-size-fits-most programme cannot reflect that reality. VIDA Personal Pathways is designed to support that complexity at scale.

The opportunity is not to add more content or more interventions. It is to make support more intelligent - by understanding how different factors interact for each individual, and responding accordingly.

VIDA Personal Pathways represents that shift:

  • from symptom-based support to precision pathways
  • from generic programmes to clinically-informed, individual context
  • from one-size-fits-most to more relevant support at workforce scale
