If you often find yourself glued to your desk or lost in a task for hours, you're not alone. But your body isn’t built to stay still for too long. Even when you're sitting comfortably, staying in one position for too long can lead to stiffness, tension and low energy.

The good news? Just moving a little, regularly, can make a big difference.

Why it matters

Our muscles and joints love variety. When you stay in the same posture for too long, certain muscles work overtime while others get neglected. This can lead to musculoskeletal (MSK) pain, particularly in the neck, shoulders and lower back.

But our research shows that taking short, regular breaks, even just a stretch, a posture shift, or a shoulder roll every 30 minutes, an reduce MSK pain by up to 30%. That’s a big impact for something so small.

What counts as a break?

You don’t need to leave your desk or go for a walk (though that’s great if you can). Microbreaks are simple and quick:

These tiny moments help reset your body and even give your brain a boost, improving focus and reducing fatigue.

Need a hand staying on track?

Remember: Motion is lotion. It’s part of how your body stays healthy. Give yourself permission to pause, stretch and reset. Your body will thank you.
